For Use with Metered Dose Inhalers
Before using the Pocket Chamber, please read the instructions carefully.
The purpose of the Pocket Chamber is to reduce the aerosol medication dose from the Metered
Dose Inhalers (MDI) by dispersing large aerosol particles to a dose that is more effectively
inhaled.
Instructions for Use
1
Remove Pocket Chamber from bag.
Remove caps from both the MDI and
the Pocket Chamber.
4
Exhale slowly and deeply then place the
Pocket Chamber in your mouth.
Try to hold your breath for 5 to 10
7
seconds.
Technical Information
The Pocket Chamber helps to deliver the MDI medication. The Pocket Chamber's one way
valve reduces the non-respirable, (non-therapeutic) particle count that would otherwise deposit
in your throat or mouth. At the same time, the Pocket Chamber delivers an adequate dose of
respirable (therapeutic dose) MDI aerosol medication that will be easily inhaled into the lungs.
This process helps to reduce unwanted side effects and promotes an effective treatment. If
you should have any questions or problems using the Pocket Chamber, please contact your
physician.
Warnings and Cautions
The Pocket Chamber should be replaced if:
1.
The body is cracked
2.
The fl exible MDI end has split
3.
The Pocket Chamber's one way valve is cracked or missing
4.
The Pocket Chamber is intended to be replaced after 12 months of use.
Cleaning
With repeated use, medication powder will build up on the Pocket Chamber's inner surfaces.
This may interfere with the performance of the device. The device along with the MDI plastic
elbow should be washed at least once a week using warm water and a liquid dishwashing
detergent. Place the whole unit in warm water before trying to remove fl exible MDI end. Then
wash the unit, rinse with warm clear water and allow to air dry.
2
Visually inspect the Pocket
Chamber for any foreign material or
damage.
5
Depress the MDI canister and spray one
puff into the Pocket Chamber while
inhaling slowly, so that you do not
activate the whistle.
8
Exhale slowly.
3
Insert the MDI into the flexible MDI end
of the Pocket Chamber. Shake
vigorously.
6
Continue to breathe in slowly and fully.
9
Repeat Steps 3-8 as many times as
instructed by your physician.
