RESIN AND SOFTENER
REGENERATION
To avoid scaling deposits in the boiler and in
the heating exchangers, the softener must
always be kept efficient. Therefore, the ionic
resins must be regularly regenerated.
Regeneration times are established according
to the quantity of coffee delivered daily and
the hardness of the water utilised.
As an indication, regeneration times can be
calculated on the basis diagram illustrated in
Fig. 31.
Regeneration procedures are as follows:
1) Turn the machine off and place a container
large enough to contain at least 5 litres
under tube E (Fig. 32).
Turn levers C and D from left to right; take
the cap off by unscrewing knob and fill with
1 Kg normal kitchen salt (Fig. 33).

2) Put the cap back on and reposition lever C
moving it towards the left (Fig. 34) and allo-
wing tube F to discharge the salty water until
it has been eliminated and the water beco-
mes fresh again (about half and hour).
