TROUBLESHOOTING – Continued
PROBLEM
Poor water pickup.
ESt option not operating.
Short run time.
FaSTt System Option does not
operate.
Tennant 5400 (05–03)
CAUSE
Recovery tank is full and ball float has
been activated.
Ball float screen inside recovery tank
is clogged.
Clogged squeegee.
Worn squeegee blades.
Loose squeegee thumbscrews.
Vacuum hose connections are loose
or hose has a hole.
Clogged vacuum hose.
Recovery tank inlet hole is obstructed.
Worn tank lid gasket.
Loose drain hose plug.
Recovery tank lid not in place.
Loose vacuum motor.
Battery charge level is low.
ESt filter is clogged.
Faulty ESt pump.
Faulty ESt ON/OFF switch.
ESt float switch is dirty.
Faulty ESt float switch.
Batteries not fully charged.
Defective batteries.
Batteries need maintenance.
Faulty charger.
Solution switch is not activated.
FaSTt system switch is not turned
on.
FaST circuit breaker has tripped.
Clogged FaSTt PAK supply hose
and/or connectors.
FaSTt PAK carton is empty or not
connected.
Clogged flow control orifice.
Faulty scrub mode switch.
Faulty pump or air compressor.
Clogged solution tank filter.

OPERATION
SOLUTION
Empty recovery tank.
Remove screen and clean.
Clean squeegee.
Replace squeegee blades.
Tighten thumbscrews.
Push hose cuffs firmly on connections.
Replace hose if damaged.
Remove clogged debris.
Empty recovery tank and tilt tank side-
ways to access inlet hole, remove ob-
struction.
Replace gasket.
Tighten plug.
Properly position lid.
Contact Service Center.
Charge batteries. Do not run machine
when battery meter is in the red zone.
Remove and clean ESt filter.
Contact Service Center.
Contact Service Center.
Rinse off float switch located in
recovery tank.
Contact Service Center.
Charge batteries.
Replace battery.
See BATTERY MAINTENANCE.
Repair or replace battery charger.
Turn on solution switch.
Turn on FaSTt system switch.
Determine cause and reset the 10A
circuit breaker button.
Soak connector and hose in warm
water and clean.
Replace FaSTt PAK carton and/or
connect supply hose.
Remove orifice, clean and reinstall
(refer to parts list diagram).
Contact Service Center.
Contact Service Center.
Drain solution tank. remove solution
tank filter, clean and reinstall.
