Spark arrester service:
The spark arrester must be cleaned every 100 hours to maintain its efficiency.
1. Turn the engine switch and fuel cap vent lever to OFF position.
2. Remove the rear cover screws (4x).
3. Remove the muffler bolts (3x) and remove the muffler.
4. Use a brush to remove carbon deposits from the spark arrester screen.
5. Inspect the screen for breaks or tears and replace it if necessary.
6. Check the muffler gasket; replace if damaged. Reinstall the muffler gasket, the spark arrester,
the muffler and the rear cover in the reverse order of removal.
12.6 Transporting
If the pump has been used, allow the engine to cool for at least 15 minutes before loading the pump
on the transport vehicle. A hot engine and exhaust system can burn you and can ignite some
material. To prevent fuel spillage when transporting, the pump should be secured upright in its
normal operating position with the engine switch OFF and the fuel tank cap vent lever turned fully
counter-clockwise to the "OFF" position. Take care not to drop or strike the pump when
transporting. Do not place heavy objects on the pump.
If the engine has been running, the muffler may be very
hot. Allow it to cool before proceeding.
