Water connections must be carried out by qualifi ed person-
nel and a declaration of conformity must be issued pursu-
ant to Min. Decree 37 ex Law 46/90.
All local and national laws and European standards must be
met when installing and using the appliance. In Italy, refer to
the UNI 10683/2012 standard, as well as any regional or local
health authority regulations. In any case, it is essential that the
laws in force in the country concerned are followed.
If installing in an apartment building, check with the manage-
ment company fi rst.
VERIFICA DI COMPATIBILITA' CON ALTRI
DISPOSITIVI
The boiler must NOT be installed in the same room as B type
gas heating appliances (e.g. gas boilers, stoves and appliances
which use aspiration hoods) because the boiler can create low
pressure in the room and thereby compromise the functioning
of such appliances, or itself.
VERIFYTHE POWER SUPPLY
CONNECTION
(the plug must be accessible)
The boiler is supplied with a power cable that is to be connec-
ted to a 230V 50 Hz socket, preferably fi tted with a magneto-
thermic switch.
Voltage variations of more than 10% can affect the correct
functioning of the boiler.
Unless already installed, fi t a suitable differential switch.
The electrical system must comply with the law; particularly
verify the effi ciency of the earthing system.
The power line must have a suitable cross-section for the boiler
power.
An inadequate earthing system can cause anomalies for which
Edilkamin cannot be held liable.
FIRE SAFETY DISTANCES AND LOCATION
For correct operation the boiler must be level.
Check the load-bearing capacity of the fl oor. The boiler must
be installed in compliance with the following safety conditions:
- at least 10 cm from medium fl ammable material in the vicin-
ity of the boiler.
- if the boiler is installed on a fl ammable fl oor, a sheet of heat
insulating material must be placed between the boiler and the
fl oor, which protrudes by at least 20 cm at the sides and 40 cm
at the front.
Flammable objects must not be placed above the boiler or at a
distance that is any less than the stipulated safety distances.
If connected to wooden walls or other fl ammable materials,
the smoke exhaust pipe must be appropriately insulated with
ceramic fi bre or other similar material.
AIR INLET: to be mandatorily implemented.
The room where the boiler is placed must have an air inlet with
a cross-section of at least 80 cm² so as to guarantee suffi cient
air supply to the boiler for combustion.
Alternatively, the boiler air may be taken directly from outside
through a 4 cm steel extension of thepipe. In this case, there
may be condensation problems and it is necessary to protect
the air intake with a grille, which must have a free section of at
least 12 cm². The pipe must be less than 1 metre long and have
no bends. It must end with a section at 90° facing downwards
or be fi tted with a wind guard.
INSTALLATION
SMOKE OUTLET
The boiler must have its own smoke outlet (the smoke can-
not be discharged into a smoke fl ue used by other devices).
The smoke is discharged through the 8 cm diameter outlet
at the back of the boiler. A T-junction must be set up with a
condensation collection stopper at the beginning of the verti-
cal section. The smoke outlet must be connected to outside by
means of suitable steel pipes EN 1856 certifi ed.
The pipe must be hermetically sealed. The material used to seal
and if necessary insulate the pipes, must be resistant to high
temperatures (high temperature silicone or mastic).
The only horizontal section allowed may be up to 2 m long.
It may have up to three 90° bends.
If the outlet is not fi tted into a chimney fl ue, a vertical section
and a wind guard are required (reference UNI 10683/2012).
The vertical duct can be internal or external.
If the smoke channel (part of the pipe that goes from the boiler
to the chimney fl ue) is outside, it must be appropriately insu-
lated. If the smoke channel is fi tted inside a chimney fl ue, the
latter must be suitable for solid fuel.
If it is wider than 150 mm in diameter it must be improved by
entering a pipe that has a suitable cross-section and is made of
suitable material (e.g. 80 mm diameter steel).
All sections of the smoke duct must be accessible for inspec-
tion. If it is not removable, it must have inspection holes to
allow for cleaning.
The boiler is designed to function in all weather conditions.
In the case of exceptional conditions, such as strong winds,
safety systems could be triggered, causing the boiler to switch
off. In this case, do not operate the appliance while the safety
devices are disabled. If the problem persists, contact the Servi-
ce Centre.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES
Fig. 1
A: insulated steel chimney fl u, Insulated
B: minimum height 1.5 m, and however beyond the eaves of the roof
C-E: air intake from outside (through section at least 80 cm²)
D: steel chimney fl ue inside existing masonry chimney fl ue
CHIMNEY POT
The main characteristics are:
- an internal cross-section at the base, which is the same as that
of the chimney fl ue
- an outlet cross-section which is no smaller than twice that of
the chimney fl ue
- its position must be high enough to catch the wind and avoid
downdraft areas in turbulent wind..
