Installing the external accessories
Avoid the outside influence of magnetic or ferritic parts in the immediate
S
vicinity of the proximity sensors (e.g. a minimum distance of 50 mm must be
adhered to between two identically constructed HGDS−...).
This ensures the proper functioning of the proximity sensors.
Use proximity sensors of the type SME/
S
SMT−10..−...
in slot (A) to sense the swivel angle
preferably using an in−line cable outlet.
in slot (B) to sense the gripper jaw
position preferably using a lateral
cable outlet.
In the variant with an in−line cable outlet,
the proximity sensor protrudes beyond
the housing.
Position the proximity sensors for end−
S
position sensing in the mounting slots
(note orientation in Fig. 13).
Setting the proximity sensor in groove (A):
1. Turn the swivel part into the end position to be sensed.
2. Push the proximity sensor in groove (A) in the direction of the stop cam until
the proximity sensor switches for the first time (the magnetic field has two
switching points). If the second switching point is used, this may lead to faults
in the evaluation of the signals to the PLC.
3. Tighten the fastening screw on the proximity sensor.
4. Repeat the settings for the other end position.
Installing the pneumatic system
Remove the self−adhesive labels from the supply ports.
S
Check whether a reservoir of the type VZS−... is required.
S
A compensating reservoir reduces pressure fluctuations in the downstream
compressed air stream.
If no reservoir is used, the effective load will be released in the event of a
pressure drop.
Use the shortest tubing lines possible for your application.
S
Short lines optimise the pressurisation time.
