5. Hygienic preparation
5.1 Intervals
Clean the device as described in Section "5.2 Cleaning" as required, e.g. after use in a
dusty environment.
Disinfect the device as described in Section "5.3 Disinfecting" as required, in particular
when changing patients or in the event of direct contact between the patient and the
device.
5.2 Cleaning
Warning!
Risk of fire. Do not use cleaning agents. Cleaning agents containing alcohol or
moisturizers form a flammable mixture in combination with oxygen.
Caution!
Device damage possible. Ensure that no liquids get into the device, otherwise there
may be damage to the device.

If external cleaning is required, use only a clean cloth. The cloth can be
dry or moistened with clean water.
5.3 Disinfecting
Warning!
Risk of injury. Ensure that no disinfectant gets into the tubes, otherwise the disin-
fectant will get into the patient's respiratory tract together with the oxygen.
Device damage possible. Ensure that no liquids get into the device, otherwise there
may be damage to the device.

For disinfecting by wiping, we recommend a 0.5 % solution of
TERRALIN. You should also follow the instructions for use enclosed with
the disinfectant.
