GROW-DISK™ Feed System
SETTINGS: Press button to access the SETTINGS pages. These settings are for the
control of the chain disk system, auger motor, feed sensor, actuator/e-valve and all timer
delays necessary to run the system. Proper set-up of the system is essential to prevent
common problems such as over-loading, pre-mature cycle completion, or chain and other
system component damage. The below information provides not only display functions
but also guidelines to each setting and how they should be applied.
SETTINGS 1 of 3:
1. MAX AMPS: Default 6.0A - Sets the maximum amp draw of the chain disk motor at which point
the auger motor stops delivering feed into the system. Setting is based on chain disk drive motor
rated amps. Set value equal to max amp rating of chain disk drive motor found on motor
nameplate.
2. MAX AMPS DELAY: Default 04:00 minutes – amount of time the chain disk drive motor is
allowed to run equal to or greater than the MAX AMPS value. If time is exceeded, controller
faults and stops running. Causes can include feed delivery rate of the auger system is greater
than feed delivery rate of the chain system or load of the system when empty is too high
indicating other problems causing load not related to the amount of feed in the feed pipe.
3. WINDOW AMPS: Default 1.0A – The amount of amps the chain disk drive motor has to drop
before auger motor turns on to deliver feed. The amp reading of the chain disk drive motor has to
drop below the value of MAX AMPS – WINDOW AMPS. For example 6.0 – 1.0 = 5.0 therefore
the chain disk drive motor amp draw will have to drop below 5.0A before auger comes on or back
on.
4. CRITICAL AMPS: Default 8.0A – Amp draw value of the chain disk motor at which point the
system is shut down (Fault). This would indicate a problem with the system and this function is in
place to protect the drive motor. Works in conjunction with the CRITICAL AMPS DELAY. Set
value to approximately 1.33 times the rated motor amps. For example rated amps equal 6.0A,
therefore 6.0 x 1.33 = 8 .0 AMPS.
5. CRITICAL AMPS DELAY: Default 00:10 seconds – Maximum time the chain disk drive motor is
allowed to operate above the CRITICAL AMPS setting. Risk of damage to the system can occur
if this value is increased. Running motor above critical amps will damage the motor and is a
strong indicator there is a serious issue with the chain disk system causing excessive load.
