GROW-DISK™ Feed System
6. MAX RUN-TIME: Default 01:30:00 – Maximum time the system is allowed to run to limit an out of
feed or feed spill condition. If this time is exceeded, controller will fault and stop running. Set
timer value to the time is takes to fill the system plus approximately 15 minutes.
7. FEED DELAY: Default 01:00 hr.- Operates in the CONTINUOUS FEED mode only. Sets the
time the system is off between feedings. If the feed sensor is located in the chain disk pipe, the
FEED DELAY is launched immediately when the feed cycle ends. Once delay time has elapsed,
a new feed cycle will begin. If feed sensor is located in the last feed drop, the FEED DELAY is
launched after the feed has dropped away from the feed sensor.
SETTINGS 2 of 3:
8. FEED SENSOR DELAY: Default 09:30 minutes – During this time the feed sensor is ignored
allowing feed to pass by the sensor and eventually empty into feeders. The auger motor is off.
Purging the system of feed before bringing in more feed is important to prevent the system from
being over-loaded. Time should be set based on the system making one complete loop.
Calculate the time by taking total length divided by 122 ft/min. travel speed.
Example: 1,000 ft ( total pipe length + 2ft / corner) / 122 ft/min = approx.. 8 minutes. Add another
minute or so to ensure system has made a complete loop.
9. AUGER DELAY: Default 10:00 min. - The timers for the FEED SENSOR DELAY and AUGER
DELAY start at the same time. During the FEED SENSOR DELAY the auger is OFF. If more
delay of the AUGER is required, set the AUGER DELAY to a time greater than the FEED
SENSOR DELAY. Using the default values as example, the AUGER DELAY is set to 30 seconds
longer than the FEED SENSOR DELAY therefore once the FEED SENSOR DELAY is complete;
the auger motor will stay off for 30 seconds longer. If the AUGER DELAY time is set to a value
less than the FEED SENSOR DELAY then it will be ignored and the purge time will be equal to
the FEED SENSOR DELAY.
10. SHUTDOWN DELAY: Default 00:30 seconds – The amount of time the chain disk system runs
after feed has been detected by the feed sensor. During this time, the auger motor is shut off.
System is allowed to dump remaining feed in the system to ensure complete fill of drops or
feeders plus partially unloads system to reduce the amount of start-up load on the chain disk
drive motor during the next feed cycle.
11. DUMP DELAY: Default 01:00 minutes – When FEED DUMP is selected, the dump will open at
the programmed open time. When the dump opens, the DUMP DELAY holds the dump open for
set period of time to allow full emptying of feed drops. Once time has elapsed, the dump will
close.
