Storage battery maintenance

The nickel-hydride storage battery is located in the USB
– Box. The battery is automatically charged as required.
Irregular use will impair the storage battery's perfor-
mance.
Refreshing the storage battery
In order to restore the battery to full performance, it must
occasionally be refreshed (refresh process). The system
checks whether the battery needs refreshing. If it does,
the user is then prompted to answer the refresh query by
entering Yes or No in the dialog box. A refresh process
should be carried out every two months.
The refresh process can also easily be performed with
the Sidexis USB Monitor program ("SiUSBMon.exe"),
i.e., the storage battery is first fully discharged in a con-
trolled manner and then recharged. This program can be
found on the Sidexis installation CD under
\tools\usb\siusbmon.exe.
• Make sure that the USB X-ray box is connected to
the PC and start "SiUSBMon".
• Click "Start refresh cycle" and answer the query "...
Perform refresh cycle now?" with "Yes".
A new window then opens to indicate the progress of the
refresh cycle.
The refresh process takes at least 6 hours. If no external
power supply unit is connected, the computer must
remain switched on during this time. It may, however,
also be used for other applications.
Changing batteries
The storage battery should be replaced every one to
three years or whenever its performance has deterio-
rated appreciably.
The SIDEXIS program also detects the need to change
batteries and informs the user of this at the appropriate
time. Follow the instructions in the dialog box on the
computer screen.

NOTE
Remove the storage battery from the USB – Box when-
ever it is not used over a longer period of time.

As of serial no. 2001: Operation without storage batteries
is possible whenever the power supply is connected.
