4.3) P
H
The right pH is essential to ensure the right water balance. The wrong pH can damage
the cell. The effectiveness of the chlorine also depends on the pH, which should be
maintained at around 7.2 and in any event under 7.6.
4.4) T
A
OTAL
LKALINITY
pH is not be confused with total alkalinity, which governs the speed and changeability
of the pH. It is expressed in ppm, with the ideal concentration ranging from 80 to 150
ppm. To measure alkalinity, use a suitable analytical instrument. Low alkalinity can
render the pH unstable, whilst excessive alkalinity can lead to high pH values.
For the unit to work efficiently and have a long service life, the main thing is to ensure
the right water balance, and this can only be obtained by following the above
instructions.
Adding other products may have harmful effects.
Additives containing copper or calcium carbonate are especially inadvisable: they can
cause large deposits to form on the cell, and invalidate the guarantee.
4.5) I
S
NSUFFICIENT
If the salinity of the water is too low, this will cause the cell to oxidise more quickly and
therefore reduce the life of the cell, which under normal working conditions is 3 or 4
years.
5) OPERATION
The digital production display will hover around 100 (100% = full production), except in
"WINTER MODE", in which case it will be hover around 85. (see "WINTER MODE").
The unit includes an electronic regulator which limits production to a preset maximum
value. The two small indicator lights (LED 1 and LED 2) warn the user in the event of a
fault, or if salinity is too low or the water too cold (below 20ºC), unless it is in "WINTER
MODE".
