The 2D gantry's pneumatic gripper 1 grasps the workpiece from the holding unit 3. In the "Store"
operating mode, the 2D gantry 2 transports the workpiece to the closest empty location on the respective
storage level 4 depending on the measurement results. In the "Issue" operating mode, the workpiece is
transported to a downstream station upon receipt of a material requisition.
Linear motion of the 2D gantry is driven by electric actuators which are operated by a controller.
