3.3.3.9 Maintenance plan during storage

During the storage period, maintenance of the alternator must be performed and recorded according to the plan described
in Table 3.1.

Inspect cleaning conditions
Inspect humidity and temperature
conditions
Verify signs of harsh agents
Measure vibration level
Packaging
Inspect physical damage
Inspect inner relative humidity
Replace the desiccant in the package (if
any)
Space heater (if any)
Verify operation conditions
Complete alternator
Perform external cleaning
Perform internal cleaning
Verify painting conditions
Verify the rust inhibitor on exposed parts
Windings
Measure insulation resistance
Measure polarization index
Terminal boxes and grounding terminals
Clean inside the terminal boxes
Inspect seals
Re-tighten the connection terminals
Regreasable roller bearings
Rotate alternator shaft
Relubricate the bearing
Disassemble, clean, inspect and
lubricate the bearing
Shielded roller bearings
Rotate alternator shaft
Replace bearing
