Nosepiece centering

1. After centering the stage with the 10X objective,
return the recognizable detail used for centering
to the centre of the crosshair.
2. Rotate the revolver by inserting all the other
objectives in the optical path and check that the
detail is always in the centre of the crosshair.
3. If this is not the case, use the centering screws on
the ① nosepiece to ensure that all the objectives
are perfectly centered in relation to the optical
axis. (Fig. 32)

Checking the extinction of the light

12.3.1 B-510POL

1. Remove the specimen from the light path and
insert 10x.
2. Loosen the locking screw of the polarizer ① and
check that the scale is in the "0" position ②. (Fig.
33)
3. Insert rotatable analyzer in the light path, loosen
the locking screw ③ and put the vibration scale
on 0° ④, then lock the locking screw ③. (Fig.
34)
4. Rotate the polarizer scale ②
extinction (total dark in the eyepieces). Then
tighten the screw ①. (Fig. 33)
It may happen that the scale of the polarizer
is not perfectly aligned on the reference mark
but is shifted by one or two notches. This is
not a defect but it is due to the mechanical
alignment of the polarizers during assembly.
