USES
Splinting and external immobilization
CAUTION
1. Use this product only under the guidance of a physician. Please advise patient to contact a
medical professional if any problems occur with the use of this product. If any discomfort,
numbness, or excess heat is felt by the patient, bring to the attention of a medical professional.
2. The use of gloves is optional. Do not allow any of the inner splinting material to come into
contact with skin. The resin of the inner splinting material can adhere to unprotected skin or
clothing. Swabbing lightly with alcohol may help remove resin if done immediately.
3. Techform splint is padded on only one side. To avoid the possibility of thermal burns, always
place the padded side next to skin.
4. Do not rest newly splinted extremity on pillow or cushions during or immediately after set time.
Heat insulation (pillows, etc.) will not allow exothermic heat from the splint to dissipate.
5. Do not apply directly over open wounds or other skin conditions which may result in infection.
Any skin impairment should be properly dressed before application of splint.
6. Circulation checks should always be performed as needed.
7. Cut fiberglass edges can be sharp. Ensure the edges have been properly trimmed or folded back
to prevent skin irritation or injury.

FITTING INSTRUCTIONS

The Techform Splint is intended for external immobilization. Review all instructions and cautions
before using the product. Techform splint is padded on only one side. Please place padding next to
skin.
1. Using tear notch, open foil pouch and remove product
2. For quicker set time, completely immerse splint in clean, room temperature water for 10 seconds
or until saturated, squeezing once or twice while submerged. Note: Using warmer water will
quicken the set time and may increase the temperature next to the skin during cure.
3. Remove splint from water. Roll up and squeeze out all excess water. If necessary, roll splint in
towel to remove any additional water.
4. Apply splint to extremity with the padded side towards the anatomy.
5. Use positioning straps to loosely locate splint on to appendage. Do not pull straps tightly. Over
tightening of straps may lead to tourniquet effect or other injury.
6. Secure splint with bandage or similar means. Splint has 3-5 minute set time. Note: The splint can
be folded back or trimmed as necessary to ensure a customized fit.
STORAGE
Store at room temperature. Care should be taken to avoid puncturing or tearing the pouch in storage,
as this will cause premature hardening in the package.
