Variant 1: Turning the load regulating screw L (20) to the right increases the weight needed by the user to initiate
the brake function (the brake effect is induced later).
Variant 2: Turning the load regulating screw L (20) to the left reduces the weight needed by the user to initiate the
brake function (the brake effect is induced earlier).
Note: Please always adjust the load regulating screw L (20) carefully with the help of a 4 mm Allen key. Note that
you can adjust it against the slight resistance of the securing screw.
Tip: If the user needs the brake to act later, go through variant 1.
If the user needs the brake to act earlier, go through variant 2.
Readjusting the brake
The braking effect may occur anyway during push-off (prosthesis sticks) depending on the user's weight or walking
habits which could impair the safety and the user's walking behaviour. In this case the brake regulating screw B (9)
can be readjusted as follows. Use a 3mm Allen key.
Turn the brake regulating screw B (9) carefully to the left.
Carefully check whether the brake function of the joint now suits the user's individual needs. If not, readjust the
brake regulating screw B (9) again until the correct setting has been found (turning the brake regulating screw B
(9) to the left or right) to suit the user's gait.
Note: Please always adjust the load regulating screw B (9) carefully with the help of a 3 mm Allen key. Note that
you can adjust it against the slight resistance of the securing screw.
Important: flexion and extension must be possible at all settings!
Restoring the basic setting
If necessary, the basic setting of the Balance Knee OFM2 knee joint can be reset as follows:
Step 1: Carefully turn the load regulating screw L (20) with the help of a 4 mm Allen key clockwise to the right until
a slight resistance is felt. Then turn the load regulating screw L (20) 2 turns back to the left.
Step 2: Carefully turn the brake regulating screw B (9) with the help of a 3 mm Allen key clockwise to the right until
a slight resistance is felt. Then turn the brake regulating screw B (9) 3 turns back to the left. It must now be
possible to flex the joint again.
Important: flexion and extension must be possible at all settings.
Swing phase control during use as a freely mobile knee with integrated extension assist spring
Adjusting the extension assist spring:
Variant 1: Turn the adjustment screw (1) to the right with the help of a screwdriver: extension assist increases.
Variant 2: Turn the adjustment screw (1) to the left with the help of a screwdriver: extension assist decreases.
CONVERTING THE JOINTS
Locking ▸ mechanical
• Push the release lever (24) upwards and hold it in this position.
• Secure the release lever (24) in this position by turning the release screw (27) to the right. Use a 2.5 mm Allen
key.
• Safety warning: the release screw (27) must always be tightened to a torque of 5 Nm and secured with Loctite
when finishing the prosthesis. Use a torque wrench.
Note: Failure to observe point 1 when tightening the release screw (27) results in loss of function of the joint and/
or makes it impossible to move the joint.
