F220
Use of the helmet with a full-face mask with harness
The lining of the SCHUBERTH F 220 is fitted with a quick-adjustment facility to
enable use with a full-face mask with strap harness. By releasing the button at the
second hole on the right-hand side of the headband and pulling the headband strap
accordingly you can quickly and individually adjust the helmet width to enable you
to wear a full-face mask with strap harness in combination with the helmet.
Adjustment: First check for correct size adjustment of the headband without the
mask and, where necessary, adjust accordingly by inserting the studs into the
corresponding holes in the holed section on the left side (see also "Size adjust-
ment").
1) Press and release the button (F) on the
head ring's quick-release fastener.
2) The headband can now be pulled apart
as far as the bridge (G) of the holed
section.
3) Now put on the mask and make the
corresponding adjustment with the
holed section (H) so that the helmet now
fits properly even with the mask straps.
Having done this, close the headband again at the quick adjuster and press the
button into place. The normal helmet width has now been adjusted and the quick
adjuster can be used at any time by releasing the button.
Cleaning and care
The helmet shell and inner lining should only be cleaned with lukewarm soapy
water. The lining of the helmet can also be treated with disinfectant (e.g. Heliosept
Medical Spray). Use correspondingly approved cleaning agents and disinfectants
only! On no account use solvents.

The integrated visor too should only be cleaned by gently rubbing with lukewarm
water and soap and then rinsed clear and wiped dry. An alcohol-free window-
cleaning product may also be used to clean the visor. Correct cleaning, care
and handling of the helmet are essential for ensuring that it functions optimally.

components or accessories of any kind. The replacement of individual componen-
ts is only permitted if they are of the same type as the individual components of
the type-approved helmet, or if they have been specially approved for replacement
by SCHUBERTH. Incorrect or third-party internal features, the subsequent drilling
of holes for accessories or any other changes to the helmet may affect the

Service life - firefighter's helmet
In accordance with standard EN 443:2008, the service life duration of this helmet
is influenced by the types of materials used in its construction, as well as the
environments in which the helmet is used and stored. This firefighter's helmet with
painted shell, which is made of modified high temperature-resistant thermoset
material (high temp fibre) has excellent resistance to ageing and undergoes no
change when it is exposed to direct sunlight (UV radiation). The service life of
these helmets is limited mainly by mechanical, thermal, weather-related and
chemical impacts. Care, regular maintenance and the type of use also play a role.
Thermoset materials (such as the high temp fibre used) are generally considered
to be highly resistant to these stresses. Their resistance to weather-related,
chemical and thermal stresses is clearly far greater than that of thermoplastic
materials.
expiry/discard date, since the maximum service life depends on the above-
mentioned effects.
