Fitting procedure
Position the vehicle on the support arm of a workshop jack.
Individual parts should be removed and refitted according to the instructions provided in the
ŠKODA workshop manual.
- Remove the following parts:
- Rear bumper (mud flaps, if fitted on the vehicle) and underride protection.
Caution. After removing the cross beam, replenish the anti-corrosion
protection at the contact points between the body and cross beam.
Points with untreated (zinc-plated) sheet metal without anti-corrosion
protection must be treated with two coats (min. 25 microns) of aerosol
anti-corrosion filler (Spray Max 1K acrylic filler). After the filler has
dried out at a temperature of approx. 20° C, apply the aerosol preser-
vation wax (Multi Wax, made by Henkel) after a further 20 minutes.
After treating the body with anti-corrosion protection, screw the bolts
which were removed from the cross beam back into the corresponding
openings on the rear of the car (Fig. 4).
Cutting out the openings for the ball hitch in the rear bumper

- Place the removed rear bumper onto a soft felt underlay with the inside pointing upwards.
Wash the bumper area around the pre-stamped opening points for the ball hitch with a mild
soap solution.
- Then, with a suitable tool, cut out an opening for the ball hitch, using a technique such as
would be employed in a service centre.

- Visually check the quality of the cut edges along the opening.
- If required, these must be machined and neatly finished using a suitable tool.
