11. All the chainsaw maintenance, with the exception of the points 8 and 9,
has to be done by the technical service department from Garland. (For
example, if you use inadequate tools to take the flywheel off, or if you use a
wrong tool to hold the flywheel to take the clutch off, damages in the
flywheel could occur).
12. Always turn off the engine before putting it away.
13. Be careful when cutting little size shrubs or young trees because thin
material could catch to the chainsaw and could fly towards you or
unbalance you.
14. When cutting a branch that is under pressure, be alert to a possible kickback, so that you
wont get
hit.
15. Do not saw with high winds, bad weather, when the visibility is poor or with too low or too
high temperatures. Always check if the tree has dead branches that could fall
during sawing operation.
16. Keep the handles dry, clean and free from oil or fuel mixture.
17. Operate the chainsaw only in a well-ventilated outdoor area. Do not start or
operate the engine inside a closed enclosure or building. Exhaust´s smoke
contain dangerous carbon monoxide.
18. Do not operate the chainsaw on the top of a tree unless you have been
specially trained for it.
19. Be careful with kickback. Kickback is the upward motion of the guide bar that
is caused when the chain is in contact with an object. Kickback can cause a
dangerous loss of control of the chainsaw.
20. When carrying the chainsaw, make sure that the guide bar´s case is on.

KICKBACK SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

WARNING!
• Kickback can occur when the end of the guide bar gets in contact with a
foreign object. This contact can cause, in some cases, a lightning fast,
reverse reaction which kicks the guide bar up and back towards the user.
Some of these reactions can result in loosing control of the chainsaw, this
could cause a serious injury.
• Like all chainsaw users you must clean your working area and remove obstacles that could
cause accidents or injuries.
