Fire Helmet Shell
WARNING!
Do not use abrasives, solvents, paint removers, acetone, paint or lacquer thinner, or any chlori-
nated organic solvents to clean the fire helmet shell.
Failure to obey this warning can result in serious injury or death.
Before cleaning the fire helmet shell, remove the Defender visor. To remove the visor, squeeze the
quick-connect locking arms together and pull up. To install the visor when cleaning is complete, slide
each quick-connect locking arm into the slot from which it was removed. The quick-connect mecha-
nisms will click into place when they are fully engaged.
Thermoplastic Shell (Models 360R, 360R-13, 360S, and 880)
Use a soft sponge or cloth dampened with a solution of warm water and mild detergent or a cleaning
agent such as ethyl alcohol to wipe the shell.
To remove light scratching and smoke stains, use Meguiars Mirror Glaze Plastic Cleaner (P/N M1708)
and Clear Plastic Polish (P/N M1008). Visit

Fiberglass Composite Shell (Models 660C, 664, 1010, 1044, and HP3)
Use a soft sponge or cloth dampened with a solution of warm water and mild detergent, a mild solvent
such as ethyl alcohol, or a tar or adhesive remover to wipe the shell.
Leather Shell (Models N5A and N6A)
WARNING!
Do not use alcohol, cleaning solvents, oils, varnishes, or polishes to clean leather components.
Failure to obey this warning can result in serious injury or death.
Use a soft sponge or cloth dampened with a solution of warm water and mild detergent to wipe the
shell.
To remove tar drippings, use a tar or adhesive remover. Use the cleaner only on the spot of tar, not on
the entire surface of the fire helmet shell.
To do touchups, use a good quality enamel.

Impact Cap
Impact caps, which are locked in position inside the fire helmet shell, are made of an impact-resistant
polymer liner covered by a rigid-cell, high-temperature, energy-absorbing urethane foam to supply
both impact and thermal protection. To clean the inside of the impact cap (in position inside the fire
helmet shell), wipe it with a soft sponge or cloth dampened with a solution of warm water and mild
detergent.
