en - Original instructions
• Incorrect mechanical installation can cause the
converter to malfunction and break.
• Read this manual and the one for the electric
pump before installation.
Check that the following are adhered to:
• Refer to
Figure 7
for proper assembly of the con-
verter.
• Models MMW and MTW: the converter must be
full of water in order to work and read the pres-
sure correctly.
• Do not install the converter in an area exposed to
direct sunlight and/or near heat sources. Refer to
the ambient temperature range in the technical
data section.
• Install the converter and the electric pump in dry,
frost-free conditions, observing the limitations of
use and guaranteeing sufficient cooling of the
motor.
• Do not use the product in explosive atmospheres
or in the presence of corrosive and/or flammable
dust, acid, or gas.
• Do not use the MMW and MTW converter and
the electric pump to handle hazardous or flam-
mable liquid.
4.3 Hydraulic installation
Check that the following are adhered to:
• A non-return valve installed upstream of the con-
verter is mandatory for models MMW and MTW.
• A non-return valve installed upstream of the
pressure sensor is mandatory for models MMA
and MTA.
• When installing models MMW09 or MTW10, de-
duct from the head pressure of the pump the Del-
ta H pressure drop (meters) of the converter as
indicated
inFigure 30
• Check that the sum of the pressure intake (for
example, for the connection with an aqueduct or
pressure tank) and the maximum pressure of the
pump does not exceed the value of the maximum
permitted operating pressure of the MMW or
MTW converter or of the pump (the minimum of
the two).
• Installation of a gate valve is recommended to fa-
cilitate maintenance of the converter and electric
pump or of the pressure tank.
• It is advisable to install a tap for use during cali-
bration of the system, if there is not already an
outlet near the pump.
• The converter plus electric pump can be used to
connect the system directly to the aqueduct or to
take water from a primary water supply tank.
• If connecting to an aqueduct, follow the appli-
cable provisions set down by the relevant
bodies. It is advisable to install a pressure
switch on the suction side for turning off the
pump in the event of low pressure in the
aqueduct (protection against dry running).
• If connecting to a primary water supply tank, it
is advisable to install a float for turning off the
pump when there is no water (protection
against dry running).
• Refer to the manual of the electric pump for fur-
ther information.
4.3.1 Pressure tank installation
• A diaphragm tank must be installed on the deliv-
ery side of the pump (See
28
.
Figure 22
to
Figure
29
) to keep the system up to pressure when
there is no demand for water, in order to avoid
running the pump continuously. With a converter,
the tank does not need to be large: its nominal
volume, in litres, only needs to be equal to 5% of
the maximum capacity (l/min) of the pump, with a
minimum nominal capacity of 8 litres.
Example:
Maximum capacity of the pump = 60 l/min
Nominal volume of the tank = 60x0.05 = 3 liters > 8
litres
Maximum capacity of the pump = 150 l/min
Nominal volume of the tank = 150x0.05 = 7.5 liters >
8 liters
WARNING:
Make sure the pressure tank can with-
stand the maximum pressure of the sys-
tem.
1. Check and adjust the correct pre-charge pres-
sure before connecting the pressure tank to the
system.
• If it is already connected, empty the system
before checking and adjusting the pre-
charge pressure. To avoid this, it is advisa-
ble to install a gate valve between the tank
connection and the pipe of the system.
The pre-charge value of the diaphragm tank can be
calculated with this formula:
if in bar: work pressure – 0.6 = pre-charge pressure
if in kPa: work pressure – 60 = pre-charge pressure
