CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT
CAUTION:
• It is recommended to ask your Honda dealer for adjustment.

BLADE BRAKE CABLE ADJUSTMENT
PKEA type:
1. Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug cap.
2. Release the blade brake lever [1] and verify that there is a strong
resistance when pulling on the recoil starter.
If not:
3. Measure clearance [2] at the
tip of the lever [1]
(30 to 35 mm clearance).
4. If adjustment is necessary,
loosen the lock nuts [3] and
adjust as required. Tighten
the lock nuts and check the
clearance again.
5. Start the engine and release
the blade brake lever. Check
that the blade and the engine
stop when the lever is
released. If not, take the
mower to an approved
Honda dealer.
SHIFT CABLE ADJUSTMENT
HYEA type:
Measure the free play [4] on the side of lever [5] as shown.
1. Place the gear stick in the fastest position and loosen the
locknuts [6].
2. Relax or tighten the cable as necessary so that a free play of 1
to 5 mm is achieved.
3. Retighten the locknuts [6] and recheck the free play [4].
4. Start the engine in the open air and operate the clutch lever.
Check that the clutch engages and disengages correctly.

Perform this procedure with the wheels on a level surface.
1. Loosen the Smart Drive clutch cable lock nut [8].
2. Start the engine.
3. Without engaging the Smart Drive grip, turn the clutch cable
adjuster [7] in the "MOVE" [A] direction until the lawn mower just
begins to move forward.
4. Turn the clutch cable adjuster 1 ~ 2 turns in the "STOP" [B]
direction.
5. Tighten the clutch cable lock nut.
6. Check the operation of the Smart Drive system.

NOTE: If the clutch does not engage correctly even when the cable
is correctly adjusted, the system may need to be repaired. Take the
mower to an approved Honda dealer.
BLADE FITTING AND
REMOVAL

BLADE REMOVAL
1. Place the throttle lever in
"STOP" position (Rotostop
[3]
drive models).
2. Turn the fuel valve "OFF"
and disconnect the spark
plug cap from the spark
plug.
3. Tilt the mower so that the
carburetor faces
upwards [9].
4. Use a 14 mm socket
wrench and remove the two
blade bolts [10] and special
washers [11] from the
blade [14] control
assembly.
Use a wooden block to prevent the blades from turning when
removing the bolts.
5. Remove the upper [13] and lower blades [12].
