Run Flat Indicator
With a burst tyre
If a tyre develops a fault which leads to
air pressure being lost, the Check
Control displays "TYRE DEFECT" and
an acoustic signal is heard.
If this display appears, it is essential to
comply with the driving instructions
stated on page
17
(depending on which
emergency run-flat system is fitted to
your vehicle).
Reduce the vehicle's speed carefully
and adopt a restrained driving style. Try
to avoid severe longitudinal or lateral
acceleration.
The Run Flat Indicator cannot indi-
cate sudden severe tyre damage
caused by outside factors and does not
detect a natural, even pressure drop in
all four
tyres.<
*
Check tyre pressures regularly
and correct them if necessary.
Do not activate the system if snow
chains are in use. False alarms and
undetected loss of pressure may occur
in such situations.
When driving on snow-covered or slip-
pery surfaces, it may take some time for
a loss of tyre pressure to be indicated.
A sports driving style (spinning of the
driven wheels, high lateral accelera-
tions) can likewise result in a delayed
response from the Run Flat Indicator.
Faults
While a malfunction is present, the
Check Control displays "TYRECON-
TROL INACTIVE".
The same display appears in the event
of a system fault.
Consult BMW Service if necessary.
Have your tyres changed by BMW
