5.1.2 Mechanical cleaning
Manually clean helmet trims and visor shields separately.
Neither mechanical cleaning nor disinfection are
recommended for these parts.
High temperatures during cleaning and disinfection put a lot of
strain on the materials. Dräger recommends choosing
temperatures that are as low as possible (max. 55 °C).
1. Remove hood or helmet trim from the facepiece.
2. X-plore 8000 helmet:
Remove visor shield.
3. Load the washer with the helmets and/or bump caps.
4. Start standard mask program.
Adhere to the appropriate parameters depending on the
procedure:
● For cleaning without disinfection
Cleaning phase:
Duration: 10 to 20 min
Water temperature: 55 °C
Detergent concentration: 0.4 % Suma Jade Pur-Eco
L8
Rinsing phase:
1x with 0.05 % Suma Med Neutral
● For cleaning and disinfection
Cleaning and disinfection phase:
Duration: 10 to 20 min
Water temperature: 55 °C
Detergent concentration: 1 % neodisher Dekonta AF
Rinsing phase:
1x with 0.05-0.1 % neodisher Polyklar
5. Take helmets and/or bump caps out of the machine.
6. Check all components. Replace damaged and deformed
components, or ones that are stuck together.
7. If still dirty, rinse the helmet or bump cap again.
8. If necessary, remove detergent residues on hard plastic
parts with a cloth and household dishwashing liquid.
9. Allow all parts to air-dry or dry them in the drying cabinet
(temperature: max. 60 °C, time: max. 2 h). Keep away
from direct sunlight.
5.2

Maintenance work

5.2.1 Change comfortable padding
1. Pull the comfortable padding off the hook-and-loop points
of the hard foam shell.
2. Center the new comfortable padding and attach it to the
hard foam shell. The longer wing of the comfortable
padding must face backwards.
5.2.2 Replace sweatband
1. Remove the sweatband from the headband.
2. Wrap a new sweatband around the headband. The open
ends face the outside of the helmet shell. Use the hook-
and-loop strap to fix the sweatband in place. Thread the
ends of the sweatband through the headband and also fix
them with the hook-and-loop strap (see fold-out page,
Fig. H).

5.2.3 Adjust the position of the headband
1. Adjust the width and height of the headband so that the
facepiece sits comfortably on the head (see fold-out page,
Fig. G):
● To adjust the height, adjust the headband to the same
height at the 4 fastening points.
● To adjust the width, slide the headband in the slotted
holes. Start with the rear attachment points.
2. Adjust the distance between the headband and visor (see
fold-out page, Fig. E):
a. Using a Torx screwdriver (T7), loosen the 2 screws of
the mount.
b. Move the mount to the desired position and tighten the
screws by hand.
5.2.4 Replace the headband
1. Detach the headband from the helmet shell at the 4 points
(see fold-out page, Fig. G).
2. Press the new headband onto the 4 pins of the helmet
shell.
5.2.5 Replace the hard foam shell
1. Detach the headband from the helmet shell at the 4 points
(see fold-out page, Fig. G).
2. Loosen the 2 screws of the mount and remove the mount
(see fold-out page, Fig. E).
3. Remove the hard foam shell.
4. Insert the new hard foam shell.
5. Insert the mount and tighten the screws by hand.
6. Press the headband onto the 4 pins of the helmet shell.
5.2.6 Replace the hood
Only applies to X-plore 8000 bump cap/hood combinations
and X-plore 8000 helmet/hood combinations.
1. Pull the hood over the helmet shell or bump cap shell so
that the front of the helmet shell or bump cap shell is
facing the visor of the hood.
2. Pull the hood over the hose connection.
3. Attach the visor flaps to the helmet shell or bump cap
shell:
a. Hook the flap onto the mounting clip and click it into
place on the other side of the mounting clip (see fold-
out page, Fig. F).
b. Repeat step a. with the other flap.
5.2.7 Replace the protective foil
Only applies to X-plore 8000 bump cap/hood combinations
and X-plore 8000 helmet/hood combinations.
1. Remove the old protective foil and adhesive strip.
2. If necessary, wipe the visor shield with a damp cloth and
dry with a soft cloth.
3. Align the protective foil and stick it to the visor shield.
