DESCRIPTION AND USE

The HeartStart Training Pads II are designed for use with the HeartStart FRx
Philips 861304 and Laerdal 861305 automated external defibrillators. These
instructions are specific to use of the Training Pads II with an FRx
Defibrillator. Use of the Training Pads II with a HeartStart Trainer is described
in the Instructions for Use provided with the Trainer.
The Training Pads II are reusable optional accessories for demonstration and
occasional training applications. Replacement pads for the Training Pads II case
are also available. These pads cannot be used to deliver defibrillation
treatment.
Each training pads case contains a pair of reusable adhesive pads with integrated
cable and connector. The case is packaged with:
• A fold-out Adult Pads Placement Guide. Metal areas on the guide allow
the defibrillator to sense when the pads are properly applied.
• An Illustrated guide for using the pads, using the Pads Placement Guide,
and repackaging the pads for future use.
• These Instructions for Use.
The HeartStart Training Pads II case and connector plug are yellow, to help
prevent confusion with the gray case and blue connector of the SMART Pads II
used for patient treatment. In addition, the training pads case has a red label that
identifies its purpose as training.
Using the Training Pads II connected to a HeartStart FRx defibrillator, the user
can choose any of eight emergency scenarios. The scenarios are described in the
table on page 3. The scenarios are designed to let the user become familiar with
how to operate the FRx defibrillator.
