Rear parking assistant
The accessories are intended for professional fitting. ŠKODA AUTO recommends having the
assembly done by its contractors.
Rear parking assistant, Order Number 5E0 054 630, is intended for vehicles ŠKODA Octa-
via (5E5) and ŠKODA Octavia Combi (5E9). It serves to facilitate parking the car in reverse.
The four sensors in the rear bumper watch the distance between the vehicle and a possible
obstacle. The driver is informed on the extent of the free area by the acoustic signal from the
loudspeaker.
If an obstacle appears at a distance of 140 cm from the rear section of the vehicle, it
is signalled with short beeps at an interval of 1 second. Approaching the obstacle, this
interval gets shorter continuously. At a distance of 30 cm, the beeping changes into an
uninterrupted tone (signal STOP). Moreover, it is accompanied with jump changes of the
pitch, see individual zones, fig. 20.
The parking assistant is not connected to data lines, and therefore its diagnostics by the
instrument VAS is not possible.
Important instructions for fitting
Advice. The vehicle must be clean; preferably washed in a car-wash.
Before gluing the park sensor holders, the control unit and foam adhesive tapes, clean and
degrease all the chosen places carefully using a suitable degreaser. Let them dry for
10 minutes. Once the places have been prepared in this way, do not touch them more for any
reason; otherwise it is not possible to guarantee the perfect affixing of individual parts!
Caution. During the fitting, ensure ventilation of the workplace
- cleaning agents contain dangerous vapours.
Assembly procedure
Have the accumulator disconnected during the fitting (when a coded car radio is in the car,
find out its code first).
Advice. Fitting the rear parking assistant and wiring the conductors in
the rear combined lamp terminal board is the same for vehicles ŠKODA
Octavia and ŠKODA Octavia Combi. Only the location of the control
unit and speaker in the trunk of the car differs!
