Step-by-step installation instructions
Step 1: Mounting the unit
Note: Mount the ESN QS unit in a position where audible noise
is acceptable (internal relays click) and where it can be easily
located and accessed if service or troubleshooting is necessary.
The ESN QS unit should be mounted with the directional arrow
pointing upwards.
Use an IP20 (minimum) rated consumer panel or breaker
panel with integrated DIN rail. The ESN QS unit is 9 DIN rail
modules (161,7 mm) wide.
To attach the ESN QS unit to the DIN rail:
1. Hook the ESN QS unit onto the top of the DIN rail.
2. Pivot the ESN QS unit onto the DIN rail.
3. Press until the ESN QS unit clips lock.
To remove the ESN QS unit from the DIN rail:
1. Using a screwdriver, pull the 4 retaining clips until they click in
the unlocked position.
2. Reverse the steps above.
Step 2: Control power wiring
The ESN QS unit operates at 220-240 V ~. Use the following
instructions to wire control power to the ESN QS unit.
WARNING! Danger of Shock. May result in serious
injury or death. DO NOT WIRE WHEN LIVE! Switch off
power to all power feeds via circuit breaker or isolator
before wiring or servicing the ESN QS unit.
Buttons and LEDs in the unit are used for programming
and troubleshooting. If wiring is exposed when accessing
buttons and LEDs, the unit must be accessed by a certified
electrician, following local codes.
1. Turn off power at circuit breaker or isolator.
2. Open front cover of panel to access the ESN QS unit.
3. Use 1,0 mm to 4,0 mm conductors (depending on breaker

rating) to feed the mains wiring. The device draws less than
200 mA.
4. Strip 8 mm of insulation off the mains cables.
5. Wire the mains to the terminals labelled L, N, and .
• A three-position terminal block is provided. Do not wire L and
N wires to the terminal.
6. The recommended installation torque is 0,79 N·m
• The ESN QS unit is earthed through the terminal. Attach the
earth wire.
7. Close front cover of panel.

8. Turn on the circuit breaker or isolator to power up the ESN QS
unit. The POWER indicator on the ESN QS unit will display a
green light continuously when properly powered up. If the
indicator does not light, turn off power, check the mains wiring,
and repeat this step.
9.Turn power off.
Note: If additional wiring space is required, the ESN QS unit
can be removed from the DIN rail while wiring. Follow the
instructions from step 1 for details.
