Step 6: QS Link Wiring
WARNING! Danger of Shock. May result in serious
injury or death. DO NOT WIRE WHEN LIVE! Switch off
power to all power feeds via circuit breaker or isolator
before wiring or servicing the ESN QS unit.
Buttons and LEDs on the front of the unit are used for
programming and troubleshooting. If wiring is exposed
when accessing buttons and LEDs, the unit must be
accessed by a certified electrician, following local codes.
QS link communications uses PELV wiring. Follow all local and
national electrical codes when installing PELV wiring with line
voltage/mains wiring.
The total distance of the QS link wiring must not exceed 610 m.

A QS system can have up to 100 zones and 100 devices.
The ESN QS unit occupies 1 device position and up to 4 zone
positions.
See diagram on the right for QS link wiring.
1. Connect terminals 1, 3, and 4 to all ESN QS units.
2. Each ESN QS unit has its own built-in power supply.
3. Terminate the terminal 2 connection (24 V -) so that each
control unit supplies no more than 14 power draw units. Each
QS device should receive power from only one ESN QS unit.
NOTE: To connect extra keypads, use a separate SELV/PELV
power supply (24 V-), and only connect COM, MUX, MUX to
the keypads connected to the ESN QS unit.
• Wiring may be daisy chained or t-tapped.
Power draw calculations are not needed for wireless sensors or
sensor connected directly to the ESN QS units.
