Cleaning and maintenance

When the appliance has cooled down, wipe it down with
a damp cloth or sponge, as required.
Dirt can be removed from the soleplate with a damp
cloth or sponge. Do not use sharp or abrasive cleaning
agents or objects.
Important: If the appliance has been standing unused for
long periods, hold it horizontal and allow it to emit steam
for approx. 1 minute to clean the steam ducts and remove
any residue from the iron.

Problems?
Problems
The iron is plugged
in, but the soleplate
of the iron remains
cold.
The soleplate is not
heating up properly.
Thermostat light
does not come.
Thermostat light
goes on and off.
None or too little
steam is being
emitted.
Brown streaks com
through the holes
in the soleplate and
stain the fabric.
The soleplate is
dirty or brown and
can stain the linen.
The soleplate is
scratched or
damaged.

Possible cause
No current supply.
The temperature con-
trol is set too low.
Temperature control
set to "0".
This is normal.
There is insufficient
water in the water tank.
Anti-Drip is active
(F1).
You are using chemi-
cal descaling agents.
You linen is not rinsed
sufficiently or you
have ironed a new
garment before was-
hing it.
You are using a too
high temperature.
You are using starch.
You have placed your
iron flat on a metallic
rest-plate.
You have ironed over
a zip.
Solution
Check that the mains plug
is properly inserted or try
plugging the iron into a
different socket.
Set the temperature control to
a higher temperature (D).
Turn the temperature control
to the required setting.
When the Thermostat light
goes on and off, the iron is
heating up. As soon as the
Thermostat light goes off,
the set temperature has been
reached.
Fill the water tank (C).
Wait for the soleplate to reach
the correct temperature.
Do not add any descaling
agents to the water in the
water tank.
Ensure linen is rinsed
thoroughly to remove any
soap desposits or chemicals
on new garments which may
be sucked up by the iron.
See the temperature table to
correctly set the thermostat.
Clean the soleplate as indica-
ted above. Always spray
starch onto the reverse side
of the fabric to be ironed.
Always set the iron on its
heel.
Try to avoid ironing over zips
which may have rough edges.
