1 Safety Instructions
This manual includes safety information with the following designations and formats.

On the instrument indicates: There is alternating current present.
The following is a list of general safety instructions and warnings. Failure to adhere to
these instructions can result in damage to the equipment and/or personal injury to the
operator.
– T he 6000TOCi Sensor should be installed and operated only by personnel familiar
with the sensor and who are qualified for such work.
– The 6000TOCi Sensor must only be operated under the specified operating conditions.
– R epair or service of the 6000TOCi Sensor must be performed by authorized, trained per-
sonnel only.
– I f this equipment is used in a manner not specified by the manufacturer, the protection
provided by it against hazards may be impaired.
– U se only factory documented components for repair. METTLER TOLEDO accepts no re-
sponsibility for damage caused by unauthorized modifications to the sensor.
– Follow all warnings, cautions, and instructions indicated on and supplied with this product.
– P rotective covers must be in place unless qualified personnel are performing main-
tenance.
– Protective covers must be in place at all times during normal operation.
– I nstall equipment as specified in this instruction manual. Follow appropriate local
and national codes.
– P rior to shipping sensor back to the factory for repair or re-calibration, water MUST be
drained from sensor to avoid damage due to freezing.
WARNINGS:
– I nstallation of cable connections and servicing of this product require
access to shock hazard voltage levels. Switch or circuit breaker shall be in
close proximity to the equipment and within easy reach of the OPERATOR;
it shall be marked as the disconnecting device for the equipment.
– M ain power must employ a switch or circuit breaker as the disconnecting
device for the equipment. Electrical installation must be in accordance with
the National Electrical Code and/or any other applicable national or local
codes. Safety and performance require that this sensor be connected and
properly grounded through a three-wire power source.
