This kit contains:

installation (see illustration 1*)
1. Avoid moving the steering during work in order to
minimize oil spillage (a small quantity of oil may run
out).
Remove the quick connector on the power steering
reservoir to avoid oil loss in the steering pump.
2. Remove the steering cylinders (1) from the
suspension fork and sterndrive.
NOTE! Position a rag to soak up oil from the unions.
NOTE! The ground cable must also be removed on
late model engines.
3. Remove the connection plate from (2) the
transom shield.
NOTE! If the bolts cannot be undone the hoses
must be removed from the plate in situ.
4. Disconnect the steering hoses (3) from the
steering cylinders and the connection plate.
5. Connect the new steering hoses to the
connection plate and the steering cylinders;
tightening torque 21 ±2 Nm (15.5 ±1.5 lbf.ft.).
IMPORTANT!
The hoses must be angled backwards 35° as
illustrated in the figure 3 or 4 (depending on the type
of
installation).
IMPORTANT!
Make sure the hoses are connected at the proper
points; refer to table (A-D) top right.
6. Fasten the connection plate using four new
O-rings (part # 925053), tightening torque
6 ±1 Nm (4.4 ±0.7 lbf.ft.).
NOTE! Use grease to secure the O-rings in place.

7. Install the steering cylinders. Grease the clevis
pins with water resistant grease, VP part # 828250.
NOTE! The ground cable must also be connected
on late model engines.
8. Single installations only:
Connect the quick connector on the power steering
reservoir.
Top up hydraulic oil.
9. Single installations only:
Test run the system.
Top up hydraulic oil as necessary.
* Figure 1 shows a connection plate with four hoses. There are
only two hoses on the starboard side in a twin installation. The
other two holes are plugged.
DPH/DPR (not electronic steering)
Port side on twin installation (see figure 2)

2. Remove the steering cylinders (1) from the sus-
pension fork and the sterndrive.

3. Disconnect the steering hoses (3) from the ste-
ering cylinders.
4. Disconnect the steering hoses from the connec-
tion plate (3) with the aid of a slotted 11 mm (7/16")
socket.
