5. Connect the new steering hoses to the connec-
tion plate with the aid of the slotted socket; tighten-
ing torque 21 ±2 Nm (15.5 ±1.5 lbf.ft.).
IMPORTANT!
The hoses must be angled backwards 35° as
trated in figure 4.
IMPORTANT!
Make sure the hoses are connected at the proper
points; refer to table (A-D) on the previous page.
6. Connect the new steering hoses to the steering
cylinders; tightening torque 21 ±2 Nm (15.5 ±1.5 lbf.
ft.).
7. Install the steering cylinders. Grease the clevis
pins with water resistant grease, VP part # 828250.
NOTE! The ground cable must also be connected
on late model engines.
8. Connect the quick connector on the power ste-
ering reservoir.
Top up hydraulic oil.
9. Test run the system.
Top up hydraulic oil as necessary.
DPH-B-ES (electronic steering)
(See figure 5)
1. Keep the ignition switched off and avoid moving
the steering during work to minimize oil spillage.
2. Remove the harness (4) from the steering hoses.
NOTE! Note the position of the cable ties for re-
installation.
3. Disconnect the steering hoses (3) from the ste-
ering cylinders (1).
NOTE! Position a rag to soak up oil from the unions.
4. remove the connection plate (2) from the transom
shield.
NOTE! If the bolts cannot be undone the hoses
must be removed from the plate in situ.
5. Disconnect the steering hoses from the connec-
tion plate.
6. Connect the new steering hoses to the connec-
tion plate; tightening torque 21 ±2 Nm (15.5 ±1.5 lbf.
ft.).

7. Fasten the connection plate using four new O-
rings (part # 925053), tightening torque
6 ±1 Nm (4.4 ±0.7 lbf.ft.).
NOTE! Use grease to secure the O-rings in place.
8. Carry out the following steps one side at a time.
Remove the steering cylinder from the suspension
fork and sterndrive without undoing the harness and
ground wire.
Connect the new steering hoses with a tightening
torque of 21 ±2 Nm (15.5 ±1.5 lbf.ft.) and replace
the steering cylinders.
IMPORTANT!
Make sure the hoses are connected at the pro-
per points; refer to the table on the previous page.
