1. Front bottom appearance panel removal - use 10 mm socket to remove (7) screws from front end of front bottom appearance panel and (2) screws from
intersection line between front and rear bottom appearance panel. Use a flat head screwdriver to remove (4) push rivets from the bottom appearance panel
and (8) from the bottom wheel well (4 per side). Use T25 torxbit socket to remove (2) screws from rear bottom appearance panel. Pull the rear bottom
appearance panel downward and loosen it from studs.
2. Wheel well liners loosening – locate the plastic trim piece inside wheel well trim. Use panel removal tool to remove (2) clips from the bottom and (4) clips
from the side of plastic trim piece each side, see Figure 2. Use hand to remove (1) plastic washer from wheel well liners each side. Gently pull the wheel
well liners back. Use 10 mm socket to remove (1) screw from fascia connection point each side.
3. Trunk panel and taillight removal – (a) open the hatch and remove the interior carpet liner. (b) use plastic trim tools to loosen the weather stripping around
the left and right trunk panels. Detach the upper and lower trunk panel from (4) snap clips by gently pulling towards the center. (c) Behind the panels you
can access the brake lights. Using an 8mm socket remove (2) nuts from the taillight behind the trim panels, both sides. (d) Underneath the taillight, using 10
mm socket, remove (1) bolt connecting to fascia, both sides.
4. Fascia removal - use plastic trim tools to remove the fascia starting at the outer edges near the wheel wells and gently pull the fascia. Disconnect wiring
harness on passenger side if present, see Figure 3. Carefully set the fascia aside for reinstallation.
5. Sensor bracket/Bumper beam – (a) use 10 mm socket to remove (4) bolts from the sensor bracket. (b) use 15 mm socket to remove (6) factory flange nuts
from bumper beam. Return bumper beam to owner.
6. Hitch installation – (a) raise the hitch into position and loosely tighten to studs. Torque (3) factory flange nuts to the studs, each side. Tighten all fasteners
with torque wrench to 42 Lb.-Ft. (57 N*M). See Figure 1.
7. Reinstall the wiring harness, fascia, fasteners, trunk panels, wheel well liners and bottom appearance panel removed in Step 1-5.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be
removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices
and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
