IntroduCtIon
• T he Major Elite Buggy is a lightweight folding buggy
developed for journeys of short duration for children
up to 50 kg who are without significant postural
instability and need minimal support.
• E xpert medical advice regarding the suitability of this
product must be sought before use.
• T o adapt the Major Elite Buggy for the smaller child,
a pair of Lateral Inserts is available. Seek advice from
the Supplier or Wheelchair Centre.
• A responsible adult attendant of adequate strength
must propel and supervise the buggy during use.
• T he lightweight folding construction enables easy
storage. When folded, the buggy can easily be lifted
into a car boot, either diagonally or across the width.

Safety noteS

Please read this instruction booklet fully prior to use and
keep for future reference.
• E xpert medical advice regarding the suitability of this
product must be sought before use.
• T he attendant should be familiar with the operation
of the buggy – if in doubt, stop and read this
instruction booklet. Your Local Wheelchair Centre will
be able to provide advice regarding the correct and
safe use of this buggy.
• T ake note of how the child wishes to move or be
moved. Co-operation between attendant and child
will reduce the risk of injury occurring during lifting
and manoeuvring operations.
• D o not allow the child to climb unassisted into the
buggy.
• D o not overload this buggy with additional children
or goods. Bags and other items must not be hung
from the handles.
• B efore setting off, ensure the child is comfortable and
that clothes and rugs etc. are tucked in, so they do
not catch in the wheels.
• E nsure the waist strap and shoulder harness are
correctly adjusted and fitted. The attendant must
know how to fit, adjust and release the buckles and
clips.

• D o not stand on the footrest.
• H old on to your buggy when close to moving road
vehicles or trains. Even with the parking brakes on,
the draught from the vehicle may move the buggy.
• A lways apply the parking brakes when the buggy is
stationary.
• E xercise caution when mounting or dismounting
kerbs.
• R emove the child and fold the buggy when
ascending or descending escalators.
• Never tip the buggy forward at a kerb.
• D o not attempt to take the buggy up or down a flight
of steps, unless you and your helper are sure you
have control of the buggy, and can take the weight of
its occupant.
• T he Major Elite must not be used as a seat for a child
whilst travelling in a motor vehicle or bus.
• N ever leave the child unattended in the buggy, even
for the shortest time.
• T he attendant should take precautions against fire
risks. In buildings, check the location of fire exits and
ensure procedures are understood.
• Do not let children play with or hang on the buggy.
• D o not use your buggy in a manner for which it is not
designed.
• E nsure children are clear of moving parts before
making adjustments.
• C are must be taken to avoid trapping fingers when
opening and folding the buggy.
• M aclaren cannot accept responsibility for the use of
accessories other than those supplied by Maclaren.
Any damage caused by the use of accessories not
supplied by Maclaren will not be covered by the
terms of our warranty.

Release the storage clip and open out the buggy
Care must be taken to avoid trapping fingers when
opening the buggy.

Push both upper and lower braces fully down and
ensure the locking clips are engaged.
FITTINg THE FooTREST

Choose the height position most comfortable for
the child. Clip the footrest to the support pins in
either the low, mid or high position and apply
upward pressure to the footrest to ensure both
clips are fully engaged.
