Installing the speaker on the boot cover
The piezoelectronic speaker should be glued to or mounted on a suitable
place on the boot cover.
Note the following information when selecting the installation location for the
piezoelectronic speaker:
Note the length of the speaker cable.Note that the boot cover swings up-
wards on vehicles that have a big tailgate.
The piezoelectronic speaker must not be covered or damaged by any ob-
jects placed on the boot cover.
You can set the volume to either off (Off), low (Lo), or loud (Hi), using the
switch on the front of the speaker.
➤ Insert the socket of the piezoelectronic speaker into the plug of the exten-
sion cable (d A, page 7).
➤ Guide the extension cable to the control electronics and insert the socket
of the extension cable into the connection on the control electronics
(d B, page 7).
➤ Remove the protective foil and affix the speaker ...
➤ Or attach it using suitable screws.

Connecting the control electronics
Caution!
Make sure the polarity is correct.
Note
On some vehicles, the reversing light only works when the ignition
is switched on. In this case, you must switch on the ignition in order
to identify the positive and negative wires.
➤ Connect the red cable (e 2, page 7) on the control electronics to the po-
sitive wire (+) of the reversing light (e 1, page 7).
➤ Connect the black cable (e 3, page 7) to the earth wire (–) of the rever-
sing light or to earth (bodywork).
