Tips for Continuous Forms

Incorrect
When printing continuous forms, do not attempt to move the
perforation past the print head in the reverse direction. This
may cause the paper to snag on the print head. This is likely to
occur when using tear-off to view a form.

When using a table or desk for the printer, position the printer and
paper supply so that the paper does not drag on the edge of the
surface as it enters the printer. The printer should be as close to the
edge of the table or desk as possible.
Correct
Place the paper box so that paper flows out of it without dragging on
the sides of the box.
Each time a new box of paper is started, bend the flaps down and
tape them to the sides of the box or cut them off. Also pull the sides
of the box away from the paper stack to allow clearance.
If printing bar codes, using stiff forms, or using thick multipart forms,
place the paper supply beneath the printer and use the bottom paper
path.
As the paper supply begins to run low, remove the remaining paper
stack from the box and place it beneath the printer.
When printing graphics or bar codes, do not use tear-off to view the
page. Paper moves backwards during a tear-off cycle, and
sometimes this causes a tiny error in vertical registration. The error
is not noticeable when printing text, but an error as small as 1/72
inch shows up as a horizontal stripe in graphics or bar codes.
