1. Remove Taillights – Open the liftgate. Remove 2 screws holding the light, firmly but gently pull the light rearward and unplug the wiring connector.
2. Remove wheel well trim – Using trim removal tools, gently pry and pull upper wheel well trim away from the vehicle. Taking care to not scratch the vehicle.
3. Remove fascia – Remove screw from under wheel well trim just removed. Remove 4 screws from the bottom of the rear fascia. Remove the screw from fascia in area under
liftgate, one each side. Remove three screws each side from inside wheel well area, 2019 and up models will have 2 screws and a plastic rivet at the bottom of the wheel
well, cut or drill out this rivet. Using plastic trim tools, gently pull and pry the fascia away from the vehicle starting at the wheel well. Unplug any wiring connectors. Set
fascia aside. Remove screws from plastic panel from center area of fascia for hitch access.
4. Remove Impact bar – Remove two bolts from the towhook, set aside for reinstallation. Remove 3 bolts each side from vehicle frame, 2 from outer frame and 1 from the
bottom of the frame. Pry plastic wiring fasteners from the frame in the area of the hitch install. Return impact bar to vehicle owner.
5. Install hitch – Raise the hitch into position and insert into vehicle frame, align holes in hitch bracket to the bolt holes from the impact bar. Using the supplied pullwires
install the carriage bolts and spacers into the vehicle frame through the access hole, see Figure 2, and through the hitch and vehicle frame. Remove pullwires, install conical
washers (teeth side toward hitch) and nuts, see Figure 1. Place towhook on top of bracket near the left side of the hitch, align the holes in the towhook with the holes in
the bracket and reinstall the fasteners removed earlier and torque to 59 Ft.Lb. (80 N*M).
6. Tighten all ½"-13 Gr 8 fasteners with torque wrench to 110 Ft.Lb. (150 N*M)
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
7. Reinstall fascia and taillights – Reinstall fascia and taillights in reverse order of steps 1 thru 3. Be sure to reconnect any and all electrical connectors disconnected earlier.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety
precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
