Inspection

Tool tether products must be thoroughly inspected by a competent
•
Tool tether products with deformities, unusual wear or deterioration must be immediately
removed from service and replaced.
•
Inspect all material, stitching, hardware, D-rings, carabiners, side release buckles and other
connectors for damage or wear that may affect proper use of the tool tether.
•
Ensure carabiners, side release buckles and other connectors operate properly.
•
If a tool is dropped, inspect the tool tether and connector for damage. Any damaged Tool
Tether must be immediately removed from service and replaced.
•
If a tool tether product has been taped to a tool using the Taping Instructions included in this
manual, the tape must be thoroughly inspected by a Competent
Tape showing signs of wear or deterioration must immediately be removed and replaced.
Competent person: A person, other than the User, competent in the examination of PPE in accordance

with MSA instructions.
Use
Use Tool Tether Wristband Product
1. Attach the carabiner to the attachment point of a tool and ensure the carabiner is locked.
(Figure 1)
2. Insert hand through wristband and secure using the strap. (Figure 2)
Use Single Carabiner Products
1. Thread the tether loop through the attachment point of a tool. (Figure 3)
If using a Carabiner Detachable Loop and there is no attachment point on the tool, see the
Taping Instructions included in this manual.
2. Guide the opposite end of the tether including the carabiner through the tether loop. (Figure 4)
3. Pull tight to secure the loop around the tool. If using a tether with an adjustable loop, adjust
the slide lock to snugly secure the loop around the tool. (Figure 5)
4. Attach the carabiner at the opposite end of the tool tether to a suitable attachment and
ensure the carabiner is locked.
5. If using a Tool Tether Carabiner Detachable Loop, the loop end of the tether can be detached
by unhooking the two ends of the side release buckle. (Figure 6)
Use Double Carabiner Products
1. Attach a carabiner on one end of the tool tether to the attachment point of a tool and ensure
the carabiner is locked. (Figure 1)
2. Attach the carabiner at the opposite end of the tool tether to a suitable attachment point and
ensure the carabiner is locked.
