PERATING INSTRUCTIONS
A 2.2 Instrument change
Ensure the KEY Laser 1242 is in
standby mode.
Remove previously mounted instrument
with axial rotation @ from tube coupling.
Seal open end with supplied stopper and
store handpiece in original box.
To avoid contamination of the tube coupling
window, wipe the tube coupling from back
to front using a clean dry cloth ".
Ensure that
– window # is clean and dry
– O-rings £ are not damaged.
Windows are coated. Do not wipe
unnecessarily.
Dry inside of instrument coupling.
Push new instrument axially onto tube cou-
pling as far as it will go. A positive audible
click may be heard, indicating correct fit-
ment.

A 2.3 Cleaning the laser tube cou-
plings
Ensure that the KEY Laser 1242 is
switched off.
The exit windows at each end of the laser
tube may be cleaned with acetone or alcohol
and a clean cotton wool bud.
Once the laser tube has been detached
from the unit, the three O-rings (Mat
No 0.200.6120) on the manifold end should
be checked for damage and if necessary
replaced. Furthermore, the three O-rings
(Mat. No. 0.200.6120) on the handpiece end
of the tubing should also be checked each
time the handpiece is removed. Replace if
necessary.
A 2.4 Handpiece care
Disinfection
In the case of KaVo handpieces, carry out
only wiping disinfection.
For this purpose, spray the disinfectant onto
a cloth and wipe the handpiece with it.
