7. TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

SYMPTOM
- Engine diffi cult to start:

CAUSE
Switch (14) in "STOP" position.
No fuel.
Switch (14) in wrong position
Fuel fi lter clogged.
Air fi lter clogged.
Spark plug dirty from combustion
residue
Bad fuel mixture.
No fuel.
Bad fuel mixture.
Switch (14) in wrong position.
Insuffi cient oil in fuel mixture.
Cooling fan blocked.
Too much oil in fuel mixture.
Screws loose.
Striker or anvil worn.
Clutch worn.
Selector (13) in wrong position.
Engine speed too high.
Engine speed too low.
Selector (12) in "N" position.
REMEDY
Move switch to "START" position.
Add fuel to tank.
Check switch position (see § 5)
Clean and if necessary replace (see § 6.1.3).
Clean and if necessary replace (see § 6.1.1).
Clean and if necessary replace (see § 6.1.2).
Check to see if there is a spark.
Prepare fuel mixture correctly (see § 4).
Add fuel to tank.
Prepare fuel mixture correctly (see § 4).
Check switch position (see § 5).
Prepare mixture with more oil.
Check fans.
Check engine for seizure (see § 9).
Prepare mixture with less oil.
Clean spark plug, if necessary (see § 6.1.2)
Tighten the lock nuts.
Check for wear (see § 6.2.1)
Replace clutch.
Increase the torque using the selector (see § 3.3)
Set engine to minimum turnover and if necessary
adjust revs (see § 5.2).
Use accelerator (see § 3.1).
Use selector (see § 3.4).
