R&S SLG
The following is a block diagram of ISDB-S2 32 mode, which supports up to 14 ISDB-
S2 data carriers from 0.1 to 32.5941 Msps. One of these data carriers can have up to
8 input channels. The other 18 carriers can be any combination of load and AWG
carriers.
Block Diagram for ISDB-S2 32 Mode
From the above block diagrams, one can see the SLG provides a high degree of
flexibility in configuring it to generate a carrier or set of carriers. Individual carriers can
be set to anywhere between 0.1 to 416 Msps bandwidth. Multiple carriers can be
combined and upconverted to one of 7 bands located in the 250 to 3000 MHz
frequency range. The combined set of carriers is limited to 500 MHz of contiguous
bandwidth.
The data source for data carriers could be:
●
PN23 pseudorandom binary sequence (PRBS)
●
DATA LAN A or B
●
ASI INPUT A or B
●
Test stream (TS) generator
●
DATA SFP+ (future)
Non-data sources could be:
●
Arbitrary waveform generator (AWG)
●
Load
●
Continuous wave (CW)
There are certain limitations to this flexibility. For example:
●

The user is limited to generating 16 data carriers (14 for ISDB-S 32 and ISDB-
S2 32). The other 16 carriers (14 for ISDB modes), bandwidth permitting, must
be either load or AWG carriers.
The user is limited to 4 simultaneous ARB file playouts.
ARB playout is limited to a maximum sample rate of 72 Msps and this limits
carrier bandwidth to 36 MHz.
