The EXEL-AFP Pump is designed with a low fluid fill
volume for maximum efficiency. The design also allows
for pressure or gravity feed applications.
This simplified EXEL-AFP cross section
illustrates the centered air motor, opposed
displacement pistons, and Four-Ball Check
Principle.
1. As the pistons move to the right, the lower
left check is opened. Fluid is drawn in through
the bottom inlet and into the left block.
2. The right block is now pressurized and the
upper right check is opened. Fluid is expelled
from the pump outlet.
3. At this stage of the stroke, the upper left and
lower right checks are closed to keep the
fluid flowing towards the pump outlet.
4. The EXEL-AFP uses a static chamber
inboard of each piston. Below each chamber
is a material accumulator. When normal seal
wear occurs, material will migrate into the
accumulators. When the accumulators become
half full, the piston seals should be replaced.
