TIG µP 203H-353H AC/DC
DESCRIPTION
b) Choosing and preparing the electrode
- The electrodes normally used are of cerium tungsten (2% cerium, grey in colour)
and the following diameters are recommended depending on the current:
- A tip is made on the electrode as shown in the figure.
- Angle a varies as the welding current varies; the following table recommends the
value:
c) Weld material
Angle (°)
30
60 – 90
90 –120
-
Many kinds of materials may be treated, however there are some basic rules
1 )
the rods of weld material must have the same mechanical and chemical
properties as the material to be welded
2)
it is recommended not to use parts of the base material, as they could contain
;
impurities due to the work process
3) if the material used has a different chemical composition, it is advisable to
assess the final characteristics of the joint, both mechanical and anti-corrosive.
d) Protection gas
- The protection gas normally used is pure argon with a quantity that varies
according to the current used (4-6 I/min).
- The TIG process is indicated for welding steel (both carbon steel and alloys), it
gives a weld with an excellent appearance which limits subsequent processing and
is often used for the first pass on pipes.
- Before every weld it is necessary to perform accurate preparation and cleaning of
the edges.
