7.1 Function

The Robotino is transformed into an automated guided vehicle system (AGV) with the electric gripper. Both
MPS workpieces and MPS cartons can be gripped.
The gripper has a magnetic proximity sensor with which the open-end position is sensed.
The inputs and outputs of the gripper (2) are connected to the Robotino via the interface box (3). The
sequence can be freely programmed with Robotino View.
Sample sequence
1. A workpiece is detected between the gripper jaws by the light barrier. The gripper jaws close.
2. The Robotino leaves the pick-up position and approaches a subsequent station with the workpiece.
3. While approaching a station the roller lever switch detects if the Robotino is parallel to the depositing
and pick-up position. This is necessary for safe depositing and gripping.
4. After a station has been approached successfully the gripper jaws open.
Optionally, 1-bit communication can be made possible by attaching the handshake (5) (optical transmitter
and receiver) to the stations. This allows the Robotino to communicate with an MPS station and
query/forward the status of the subsequent or pick-up station.
To do this, you must attach the optical transmitter to the next station and the optical receiver to the pick-up
station.
Thanks to the height adjustment (4) the gripper kit can be adjusted to various working heights.
