Checking Chain Lubrication
The saw chain must always spin off a
small amount of oil.
NOTICE
Never work without chain lubrication! If
the saw chain runs dry, the cutting
attachment may very quickly be
damaged beyond repair. Before starting
work, always check the chain lubrication
and oil level in the tank.
Every new saw chain needs a run-in
time of 2 to 3 minutes.
After the saw chain has run in, check the
tension of the chain and correct if
necessary – see "Checking Chain
Tension".

Chain Brake
The chain brake is activated
automatically by a sufficiently strong
kickback – due to the mass inertia of the
hand guard: The hand guard shoots
forward toward the nose of the guide bar
– even if the left hand is not on the
handlebar behind the hand guard, e. g.,
when making a horizontal cut.
WARNING
The chain brake functions only if the
hand guard has not been modified in any
way and if the battery has been inserted
into the device.
Activating the chain brake
Press the hand guard forward towards
the tip of the bar with the left hand ( ƒ
position) – or automatically due to
kickback: Saw chain is stopped - and
stops running.
