In order to enable you to work with your product in a fast and safe way, uniform safety instructions,
symbols, terms and abbreviations are used. For a better understanding, they are explained in the following
sections.
1.3.1 Safety instructions
In this documentation, there are safety instructions preceding a sequence whenever there is a risk of
personal injury or damage to equipment. The hazard avoidance measures described must be observed.
Safety instructions have the following structure:
Type and source of the risk
What occurs when the safety instructions are not complied with

• Safety sign: alerts the user to the risk
• Signal word: identifies the degree of risk
• Type and source of the risk: identifies the type and source of the risk
• Consequences: describes what occurs when the safety instructions are not complied with
• Precautions: states how the hazard can be avoided
