6. Operation

6.1 Backlight

6.1.1 Battery operation
• Press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button to activate the backlight for 15 seconds.
6.1.2 Adapter operation: the backlight is activated permanently.
• Press the LIGHT button to adjust the brightness in 3 levels or to switch it off (HIGH (default) – MIDDLE – LOW – OFF).
• To temporarily activate the bright backlight, press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button.

6.2 Manual settings

• Press and hold the SET/MODE button in normal mode for three seconds to enter the setting mode.
• The temperature unit (°C = default) flashes on the display.
• Press the + or –/CH button to change between °C (Celsius) or °F (Fahrenheit) as temperature unit.
• Confirm the setting with the SET/MODE button.
• The next adjustable value flashes on the display.
• Use the + or –/CH button to make the desired setting.
• Confirm with the SET/MODE button and go to the next setting.
• The sequence is shown as follows:
– Temperature unit °C or °F (default: °C)
– Atmospheric pressure unit hPa/InHg (default: hPa)
– 24/12-hour format (default: 24Hr)
– DCF reception ON/OFF (default: ON)
– Time zone +12/-12 (default: 00)
– Hours, minutes
– Month/day sequence D/M or M/D (default D/M)
– Year, month, day
– Day-of-week language (default: GE)

Note
• The device will automatically quit the setting mode if no button is pressed for a few seconds.
• Press and hold the + or –/CH button in setting mode for fast mode.
6.2.1 DCF reception
• By default, the DCF reception is activated (ON) and after successful reception of the DCF signal no manual time setting is
necessary.
• Once the DCF time reception is deactivated (OFF) the clock must be manually set.
• If the DCF reception is activated, the manually set time will be overwritten by the DCF time when the signal is received suc-
cessfully.
6.2.2 Time zone setting
• In the setting mode you can make the time zone correction
• The time zone correction is needed for countries where the DCF signal can be received but the time zone is different from the
DCF time (e.g. +1=one hour plus).
6.2.3 Day-of-week language setting
• In the setting mode you can choose the day-of-the-week language:
German (GE), French (FR), Spanish (SP), Italian (IT), Dutch (DU), Danish (DA and English (EN).
6.2.4 Atmospheric pressure setting
• The relative atmospheric pressure is referred to the sea level's pressure and has to be adjusted first to your local altitude.
Ask for the current atmospheric pressure of your home area (Local weather service, Internet, optician, calibrated instru-
ments in public buildings and airport).
