Troubleshooting

Problem
Wrinkling of EMT.
Side creasing of EMT.
Will not bend EMT.
Wrinkling of IMC or rigid.
Side creasing of IMC or rigid.
Will not bend IMC or rigid.
Ram will not advance.

Probable Cause
Shoe pin is in wrong position.
Follow bar is in backwards.
Contact surfaces between shoe and follow bar
have debris or damage.
Follow bar is not positioned within 1" of saddle at
start of bend.
Follow bar is not centered on roller at start of
bend.
Shoe or follow bar grooves are worn or spread.
Roller is not rolling on shaft.
High yield strength conduit.
Follow bar is not centered on roller at start of
bend.
Conduit is not level (when bending on the floor).
Contact surfaces between shoe and follow bar
have debris or damage.
Pipe vise unit of 1813 is clamped too close to
bender.
Follow bar groove is worn or spread.
Follow bar is in backwards.
Follow bar is in backwards.
Conduit is not level (when bending on the floor).
Follow bar is not centered on roller at start of
bend.
Shoe pin is in wrong position.
Follow bar is in backwards.
Pump does not have enough oil.
Pump vent is closed.
Hose couplings are not fully tightened.
Excessive voltage drop from long extension cord.

Probable Remedy
Move shoe pin to hole marked EMT.
Remove follow bar and insert end marked
START toward saddle.
Clean shoe and follow bar. Replace shoe
or follow bar as necessary.
Position follow bar according to the
bending instructions.
Center the follow bar on the roller.
Replace shoe or follow bar.
Lubricate roller.
Use standard EMT.
Center the follow bar on the roller.
Level the conduit.
Clean shoe and follow bar. Replace shoe
or follow bar as necessary.
Move the pipe vise unit further from the
bender.
Replace follow bar.
Remove follow bar and insert end marked
START toward saddle.
Remove follow bar and insert end marked
START toward saddle.
Level the conduit.
Center the follow bar on the roller.
Move shoe pin to hole marked IMC/RIGID.
Remove follow bar and insert end marked
START toward saddle.
Add oil. Refer to instructions supplied with
the pump.
Open the pump vent.
Tighten the hose couplings.
Use a shorter or heavier extension cord.
