5.6 Plunge cuts

Use the following procedure to perform plunge
cuts:
1.
Release the clamping lever (7).
2.
Using the plunge lever (1), set the machine to
the highest position.
3.
Using the pre-feed lever (3), open the movable
guard completely so that the machine can be
positioned on the workpiece you want to work
on.
Saw blade and riving knife are now free
above the material.
4.
Align the machine on the workpiece for the
plunge cut.
5.
Switch on the machine and press down the
plunge lever (1).
The saw blade now plunges vertically into the workpiece. The plunge depth is indicated on the scale
(2). The riving knife swings upward out of the way when the blade enters the workpiece. The riving
knife returns to its normal position as soon as the gap behind the saw blade is cleared in the forward
movement of the machine.
6.
Stop the feed when the end of the plunge cut is reached.
7.
Switch off the machine.
8.
Using the plunge lever (1), pull the saw blade out of the kerf.
9.
Tighten the clamping lever (7).
The plunge cut is performed.

Warning
Risk of kickback with plunge cuts!
With plunge cuts, there is a risk of kickback when the machine jams. This
can cause serious injuries.
Prior to plunging, position the machine such that the rear edge of the
base plate is in contact with a stop that is fixed to the workpiece.
While plunging in, hold the machine firmly by the handle and push the
machine slightly forward!
