• Attach the chain brake lever or the front hand pro-
tector and turn the bar fastening wheel and the le-
ver (fig. 9 / item 18) clockwise to fasten. The chain
must not slip off the guide rail when doing so. Only
pull the bar fastening wheel hand tight during this
phase and then follow the instructions for adjusting
the chain tension as described in the ADJUSTING
THE CHAIN TENSION section.

8. Cleaning

m CAUTION
Switch the stop switch to stop (0) and remove
the spark plug connector (fig. 15 / item D) before
performing cleaning and maintenance work!
There is a risk of electric shock if the motor is running.
Cleaning
• We recommend that you clean the device immedi-
ately each time you have finished using it.
• Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor-
housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible.
Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it-
with compressed air at low pressure.
• Sawdust and wood chippings can be removed eas-
iest immediately after use.
• Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth
and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents
or solvents; these could attack the plastic parts
of the equipment. Ensure that no water can seep
into the device.

9. Maintenance and Servicing

MAINTENANCE
m CAUTION
With the exception of the work described in this man-
ual, all maintenance work on the chainsaw may only
be performed by authorised customer service staff.
Chain brake operating test
Check whether the chain brake works properly on
a regular basis. Test the chain brake before the first
cut, after cutting several times and definitely after
performing maintenance work on the chain brake.
Test the chain brake as follows:
1. Place the saw on a clean, solid and level surface.
2. Start the motor.
3. Grasp the rear grip with the right hand.
4. Hold the front grip firmly with the left hand (fig. 1 /
item 6) (not the chain brake lever) (fig. 1 / item 5).
5. Press the throttle to 1/3 of the nominal speed and
then activate the chain brake lever immediately
(fig. 10 / arrow direction 1).
m CAUTION
Activate the chain brake slowly and carefully. The
saw must not touch anything and must not be tilted
forwards.
6. The chain should stop abruptly. Then release the
throttle immediately.
m CAUTION
If the chain does not stop, switch the motor off and
take the saw to the nearest authorised customer ser-
vice location for servicing.
7. If the chain brake works correctly, switch the mo-
tor off and move the chain brake back to the RE-
LEASED position.
Air filter
m NOTICE
Never use the saw without an air filter. Otherwise,
dust and dirt would be pulled into the motor, which
can become damaged by these. Keep the air fil-
ter clean! The air filter must be cleaned or replaced
every 20 operating hours.
Maintenance and ordering spare parts
Always switch the device off and remove the spark
plug connector (fig. 15 / item D) before performing
any maintenance work.
Cleaning the air filter
1. Ensure that the stop switch is set to stop (0).
2. Remove the top cover (fig. 12 / item 9) by remov-
ing the clips from the cover as shown in figure 12.
You can then remove the cover (fig. 13 / item 9).
3. Remove the spark plug connector (fig. 15 / item
D) from the spark plug (E) by pulling and turning it
at the same time (fig. 15).
4. Remove the air filter fastening knob (fig. 15 / item
G) by turning it anticlockwise.
5. Lift the air filter out (fig. 15 / item F).
6. Clean the air filter. Wash the filter in clean, warm
soapy water.
Rinse it in clean, cold water and allow to dry in
the air completely before re-inserting.
It is advisable to have spare filters in stock.
7. Insert the air filter. Turn the air filter fastening knob
clockwise to secure the air filter. Re-attach the top
cover for the motor or air filter (fig. 16 / item 9).
Ensure that you attach the cover properly.
Attach the clips for the cover (fig. 16 / item H).
